Collaboration with Catherine Eckdahl

Catherine Eckdahl

Wei-An Huang and Catherine Eckdahl bring together Western and Eastern Art philosophies and aesthetics. They have been on the same journey but 8,000 miles away from each other, culminating in a shared vision here in New York. This shared vision found in Buddhism, abstract painting, abstract Asian thought found in sutras and meditations, and the pantheon of Buddhist beliefs was pursued in Huang's painting aiming for emptiness and Eckdahl's underworld guardians and protectors.

For the collaborative work, they painted on the same painting, opened the dialogue and responded spontaneously which offered an exceptional visual journey and exploration.
